WW - Day 420 days from lifetime
On June 27, 2009 I blew my WW goal of 195 out of the water: I lost 80 pounds! Mom, Lucie, and Griffin were there for all the cheering and high-fives at the counter. It was an amazing morning.
Since then, I've been on the 6-week "Maintenance Period" where you continue to weigh in and stay within 2 pounds of that goal.
I've actually been losing a tiny bit more overall as the weather has been so inviting for excersize! Griffin and I have been doing walks every morning for the last 3 weeks. It is amazing to me that a 12-year-old boy, who could totally sleep in on a summer morning, wants me to wake him so we can take an early morning (6am) power walk to the Stadium and back. But it is good time together and we get some one-on-one time. It reminds me of my walk-talks with my own Dad as a teenager. Griffin is very interested in health and fitness right now so it has been something for us to do together.
I've also been riding to work a bit. I can now (as of the last week) stand up on the pedals and really crank it out. What an amazing work out it is. I just feel like a million bucks after powering up a hill (then relaxing for an hour afterward!).
I took a learn to row class in early June and hadn't been on an erg since. But a week ago I was able to go to MFit while the kids were on the ice and get some great cardio in. I got on the erg there and had an amazing session -- trying to remember all the instruction from a couple of months back, getting a groove, and chewing up 100 calories in under 10 minutes. I just put an ad on freecycle to see if I can get myself an erg for the basement. The efficiency of the thing is just superb.
So, in other words, I am totally psyched to get my exercise these days.
FOOD: Well, with all the powerful working out, I get more points to work with. But it's also summer, so the produce is wonderful. And yet, I can see that I will need to rely on the accountability of WeightWatchers to keep me on the straight and narrow. I'm going to look into employment options there as well (maybe get some extra cash in my pocket by picking up a shift or two, if it works with my schedule). This will guarantee my head is still in the game.
MOOD: I have been on a "high" for most of the spring and summer. Doing this incredible thing has given me the confidence to do other things -- like standing up on those bike pedals! Hell, if I can lose 80 pounds at age 44, I can do anything.
The sky is the limit. I feel just amazing!!!
