Day 3 - bedtime
FOOD - Let's see... at 10a I had one of those trail mix bars and a banana. Around 11:30a we went to the grocery and wouldn't you know that the dreaded Girl Scouts were swarming the place pushing their evil boxes of cookies. Of course we had to purchase a box to support the good cause! We selected peanut butter sandwiches. They were hardly owned 4 minutes before we piled into the van and opened a spool. We each got 2 cookies before I put the key in the ignition and headed home. Around 1p I ate some broccoli penne leftovers from earlier in the week. (Also munched on a very small, practically unnoticible number of Doritos while I was preparing the kids' lunches -- but I want to mention it anyway...). I had a big old spoonful of peanut butter around 4:30p, then got to work baking potatoes for dinner. I also FINALLY got around to preparing that salad I've been thinking about for 2 days. Rob brought home a sirloin and tossed it on the grill. Superb meal, all in all. After dinner I heard mention of those delectible Girl Scout cookies, but I had plans so did not get to see them doled out and consumed (Thank you!) I set out to the Ark to see my friend Badria participate in the Storytelling Festival. Luckily she was first, then a gentleman named "Raif" came next. A cowboy poet was promised after the intermission -- so I said my goodbyes. (I confess here that poetry is difficult enough for me, and I'm sure a ten-gallon hat -- or even a five-gallon hat for that matter -- wouldn't help matters...) While there I had my favorite drink: myers's & tonic, plus a small carton of popcorn.
MOOD - Am happy to report that another day has passed without a ruinous ice cream feeding frenzy followed up with a half bag of Tostitos. I even did about 15 or 20 minutes of a Nia dvd -- Nia is an dance exercise system that is all very touchy feely about mind/body/soul, etc. It's kind of lovely -- especially when done in your jammies with the blinds drawn! I did it a bit last year, but fell out of synch with the scheduling. I was a bit winded today...I would imagine that this is the point, afterall. Nighty night!!
