Day 10 - soupy fog
FOOD - Lunch yesterday was a baked potato, with what seemed like a stick of butter and a pint of sour cream. (I'm exaggerating...sort of) I think there was a yogurt, too, and I brought some grapes. I also munched on Triscuits and one of those Trail Mix bars during the day. For dinner, we dropped the kids at the church for the Bulgaria fundraising evening; Rob and I met some friends and went to the Prickly Pear which is one of our current favorite restaurants. We shared a warm cheese and pepper salad with a sundried tomato vinagrette and a buffalo brisket tostada to start. The salad was absolutely out of this world. As an entree I had a phenomenal wild mushroom quesadilla with a melange of black beans and wild cherries on the side. This was just indescribably wonderful and I am getting all warm inside just remembering how incredible it felt to enjoy it in a warm atmosphere on a lovely turquoise plate!! Picked up a small (by industry standards) decaf on the way back to the church to pick up the kiddos.
MOOD - Finally a good night of sleep. But I was sad to hear last night that Faz, our pizza guy, did ultimately pass away on Thursday. Muslim tradition meant he had to be buried by yesterday evening. Over 500 people attended the burial alone. I'm very sad he's gone. There's a nice article in today's (Saturday's) Ann Arbor News about him. He was a remarkable man who made everyone feel special. I hope he rubs off on me and the others he impacted. While the funeral and burial was yesterday, there will be a memorial service for sometime this week that I hope to attend. The other thought I'm having this morning is that I hope Wendy is safe on the road to Ohio in this incredible FOG!!! I hope whoever is driving is doing so cautiously.
